Sustainable Supper: Rich, Spicy & Nutritious Dhal

Dhal

Dhal is a key dish in the Indian cuisine, and that’s easy enough to understand, when you gobble up a spoonful of steaming hot spicy lentils.

Besides being incredibly tasty, the dish is also climate-friendly since it doesn’t contain meat. Add our buffalo beetle powder to get a shot of B12, animal protein, iron etc. Then you have the perfect dinner with a complete nutritional profile.

Spicy Dhal with Hey Planet Powder

Ingredients

1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 chopped onions
5 minced garlic cloves
2 tsp finely grated ginger
1 finely chopped chili (adjust the amount depending on how spicy you want the dish)
3 chopped carrots
3 tsp dried cumin
2 tsp dried coriander
1 tsp dried turmeric
0,5 tsp cinnamon
0,5 tsp cardamom
3 dl vegetable stock
3 dl red lentils, rinsed
1 can of chopped tomatoes
1 can of coconut milk
5 tbsp Hey Planet buffalo beetle powder
Salt, pebber, sugar and lime juice

Naan bread
Chutney
(Plantbased) yogurt
Chopped, fresh coriander
Roasted sesame seeds

Instructions

Cook the onions, garlic, ginger, chili, carrots and spices in the oil in a hot pan, until the onions are clear and you can smell the aroma of the spices.

Add stock, lentils, chopped tomatoes, coconut milk and buffalo beetle powder.

Serve with naan bread, chutney, yogurt, sesame seeds and coriander.
